Monterey car week is just about upon us, and I have the pleasure of picking a few cars from the AutoHunter auction website likely to sell for significantly less than most of the cars at Monterey and are all excellent examples of collector car vehicles.

1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
I have loved this era of Trans Am since Smokey and the Bandit came out and this specific car seems to have everything I like except for the T-tops.
It has been repainted, but it was of high quality and is in the iconic black of the movies. It also had many service items added, including a completely rebuilt suspension, new fuel system, including the tank, and a new exhaust system.
This car displays 55,000 miles on its odometer and would be a great car to take to local shows and more importantly on the Bandit Run rally.
1970 Plymouth Barracuda
The Cuda is one of the most iconic cars of the 1970s and this car, finished in Plum Crazy, with a 340cid V8 and a 4-speed manual gearbox ticks all the boxes for me.
The car has extensive service records and, while not a show-level car, it would be the perfect driver-level car you could still take to local shows.
If you want a Cuda to drive and enjoy, this is the one.
1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
This is my very favorite year C3 Corvette and in my very favorite shade of yellow.
It includes both a soft and a hardtop and, best of all, is a numbers-matching big-block LS5 454cid equipped car. It also has all the options I’d want, including a tilt-tele steering wheel, power steering, 4-speed manual gearbox, power windows and A/C that is said to work as it should.
These C3 cars are the best value classic 1970s sports cars on the planet and this one for me is just about perfect.
1978 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe
Yes, this is a weird one but let me explain. My grandma had one of these cars new and I still remember riding in it and thinking of how nice it was as a luxury car.
I can’t remember the last time I saw one of these Lincoln Town Coupes in a condition as nice as this one. The exterior paint looks to be in excellent condition as does the grey cloth interior. More surprising is that the ½ vinyl top looks to be in great shape.
No, this car will never likely be worth $100,000 but an example this nice would be welcome at AACA events around the country and you are likely to have the only one in attendance.
